Itinerary 1: Inari Santa Break
Getting out to the wilds of Finnish Lapland, this curated itinerary will see you enjoy a fully inclusive spread of winter fun, full-board dining and a choice of accommodation. As well as a private meeting with Father Christmas himself. You and your family will explore the snowy surroundings with a full range of included excursions, from husky sledging and snowmobiling to reindeer farm visits and a Northern Lights hunt led by a resident elf!
This break is ideal for those looking for an independent authentic Lapland family break with a little bit of Santa thrown in.
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
Day 1 » UK/Inari
Flying out to the depths of Finnish Lapland, an included shared transfer will see you to your delightful accommodation – a choice of a traditional log cabin or contemporary Arctic chalet, depending on availability. You’ll settle in by the fire to enjoy the cosiness of it all, along with wonderful wilderness views and that all-important Finnish sauna. You’ll also begin your menu of full-board dining with dinner at the restaurant, enjoying hearty regional favourites informed by local produce. As with each night, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights, making use of your complimentary Arctic-thermal clothing.

Day 2 » Reindeer farm, snowmobiling & Father Christmas
After breakfast, it’s time to start your programme of included touring with a visit to a nearby reindeer farm. Here, you’ll meet the herders (and the adorable creatures themselves) to learn about the local Samí culture and try your hand at throwing a lasso. Then, after lunch, it’s time to try snowmobiling. This family-friendly snowmobile session is ideal for those who have not tried snowmobiling before. After familiarising yourself with the controls, you will head out into the snowclad surroundings with the children being pulled on a sledge behind the guide. Then it is time for your private family meeting with Santa. Located on the grounds of the resort, the man himself will welcome you for a private meeting with presents and plenty of festive cheer.

Day 3 » Husky sledging, winter fun & aurora hunt
Today begins with a husky safari through the surrounding Lapland remotes. After meeting the oh-so-excitable dogs, you’ll be taught how to handle the sledge before mushing out into the countryside (again children are pulled in a sledge behind your qualified guide) Then, after lunch, you’ll have some free time to enjoy the wintery fun, making use of the toboggans, kick sledges scattered around the hotel and a simple craft workshop. This evening is then given over to a special aurora hunt. With the children wearing elf hats and capes, you and your family will be brought out along a candlelit path into the forest, searching for the aurora. It all finishes around a campfire, toasting marshmallows and with any luck the Northern Lights overhead.

Day 4 » Depart for the UK
After a final hearty breakfast and a last play in the snow, an included transfer will see you back to the airport for your flight home.

Day 1 » UK to Harriniva
After your flight to Kittila, accompanied by your Best Served Scandinavia host, you’ll be met by your local guide and taken, via private coach transfer, to Harriniva, nestled high above the Arctic Circle. Your cosy hotel, perched alongside the frozen banks of the river Muonio, awaits, with a wood-cabin aesthetic that's pure Scandinavia. Rooms are reassuringly rustic, their pine-clad interiors completely in tune with the forested Lappish surroundings. Indulge in dinner at the wood-panelled restaurant, enjoying hearty, home-cooked dishes – a wonderful prelude to late-night tobogganing where you'll race through the frozen firs. You may even, with luck, be joined by the shimmering, raking lines of the aurora. You can even subscribe to an aurora wake-up service to rouse you for a personal light show.

Day 2 » Reindeers & Snowshoeing
This morning you'll meet Lapland’s most emblematic residents after transferring to Torassieppi and Finland's oldest reindeer farm, where they'll be ready and waiting for a ride through the glacial forest. It's a tranquil pace as you feed them and even try your hand with the herder's lasso before enjoying a Finnish lunch in a traditional kota by an open campfire – it’s the perfect fuel for your action-packed afternoon. Glide on snowshoes on the thick snow blanket, and for further thrills, there’s cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice hockey and even mini-snowmobiling for children – and everyone's kept toasty warm alongside hot drinks, cookies and marshmallows around the open fire. A festive Finnish Christmas dinner awaits this evening, comprising of hearty, traditional Lappish dishes. After there’s the chance to head on an optional private riverside sauna and hot tub experience under the Arctic sky – pre-booking is a must.

Day 3 » Snowmobiling, Husky Safari & Meeting Father Christmas
After breakfast, it’s time to head back out into the Arctic playground for a thrilling snowmobile safari. After lunch, you’ll be introduced to another of Lapland’s most emblematic animals as you head to a husky farm where your eager team await to tow you through the frosty tundra, the silence only interrupted by their friendly yaps. The festive anticipation is palpable with cookie baking and Christmas crafts before it's time for a magical nighttime snowmobile sledge journey to the woods, where Father Christmas himself awaits. Indulge in pancakes over an open fire first before a personal meeting with Lapland's most famous man in red. Presents clutched tightly, a final dinner is served in the cosy restaurant before a night of exciting Christmas games – with another appearance by a very special guest.
